Kimmy Rivet

Making a change can either bring success or have you playing catch up the majority of the season. This is what Kimmy Rivet will be dealing with in her sophomore season in the Sportsman Modified at the Monadnock Speedway. The Chicopee, MA driver last year took“Rookie of the Year” honors driving for Rivera Racing, for the 2015 campaign finds her in a family owned modified.

During the off season, Pop Rivet and family went out and purchased a Space Chassis with a RAD Racing Engine under the hood, for Kimmy. The car will resemble last year’s Black and Pink paint scheme and also carry her number (#99). Talking with Kimmy, her goals for 2015 is to improve. Even though Kimmy didn’t win a race last year, she managed to finish eighth in points for the Sportsman Mods. So looking to be top dog at seasons end and to capture her first Modified win is not out of the question.

Kimmy began her racing career at the Monadnock Speedway in the Mini Stock Series, where she did take down a Track Championship in that division. The now closed Whip City Speedway also was a track that Kimmy took down numerous Track Championships and was her first track that she took down a checkered flag (1998) at, so capturing a title in the 2015 season as well as winning races are highly in her sights.

Growing up at the race track is nothing new for the Rivet family. In her earlier days, you could have found Kimmy walking the pits at the Riverside Park Speedway as her dad (Pop) was a crew member on Barry Gray’s Late Model. That’s where Kimmy got the racing bug, in the mid 90’s she went to a privately owned Go-Kart track in Northampton, MA to get a feeling being behind a wheel of anything race able. When she turned seven years old it was off to Whip City Speedway in Westfield, MA to race Go-Karts on dirt. From there she moved up to the 250cc SprintCars at the age of fourteen. After two years of dirt, (Pop) Rivet came home one day with a Mini-Stock and her asphalt racing career began.

In 2015 you’ll find Gary Moore (Crew Chief) calling the shots for the Ron Rivet owned Modified. The team’s backing are coming with Beck’s Automotive, Auto Air Colors, Freedom Cycles and Paint by Valentine gracing the sheet metal as sponsors, Waddell Communications, and Whirl Winds Transfer are also joining Rivet Motorsports for the 2015 season.

Joining Moore and Ron Rivet in the pits will be (Crew Members)  Rob Nelson, Ryan Rivet (brother) and Kevin Thornton.

During the week you can find Kimmy as a dental assistant and tend to her three dogs (Lily, Dayzee and Rosy). Away from the track, Kimmy loves speed as you can find her on either a dirt bike or basically anything fast with a motor. Kimmy does have a softer side as she does enjoy cooking as well as traveling to different racetracks in the area.
